Ruptured uterus - still an obstetric problem

ABSTRACT
Thirteen cases of ruptured pregnant uterus that occurred at the Riyadh armed forces hospital between January 1979 and December 1985 are presented. Eight cases occurred in patients with a previous caeasarean section scar, three were induced with prostaglandin E2 and five were in spontaneous labour. Rupture of an intact pregnant uterus occurred in five cases two of these were induced with prostaglandin E2. There were five perinatal deaths and one maternal death
