Therapeutic effect of tinidazole in periodontal disease I- clinical evaluation

ABSTRACT

Twenty-four patients participated in the study. Every patient received scaling and root planing for one side and the other side was left without scaling to serve as control. All patients were given 1 g of tinidazole for 2 days. The gingival index, plaque index, periodontal index and the periodontal pocket depth were recorded before scaling and at 2, 6, 8 weeks. There was an improvement in the periodontal health status, which may suggest the use of tinidazole as valuable adjunct in the periodontal therapy
