ABSTRACT
Liver and kidney function impairment are the characteristics syndromes and aflatoxicosis. The effect of detoxification of ration contaminated with 1000 ppb AFB1, by dilution, ammoniation and reaction with formaldehyde on the liver and kidney functions were studied in this investigation. Dilution to 50 ppb did not solve the problem since the aflatoxin residue was above the no effect level. The ammoniation and use of formaldehyde showed excellent results in treating aflatoxin as indicated from the results of liver and kidney function tests. But, it is very important to get rid of ammonia residues after ammoniation by sufficient airiation. Also, formaldehyde residues must be removed by oxidation with potassium permanganate
