Extensive evidence supports a pathogenic role for both local and systemic inflammation in acute coronary syndrome [ACS].The determination of inflammatory markers levels in combination with the new imaging modalities can be used to identify patients at high risk of future cardiovascular events. Interestingly, this inflammatory component is a novel therapeutic target in ACS
