ABSTRACT
Five cases of Madurella foot infection caused by Madurella mycetomi were studied, all patients were adult males coming from rural country [possibility of walking bare footed], four patients had experienced local trauma preceding their infection. The lesion was characterized by raised indurated areas with multiple discharging sinuses. Mycological examination showed that, the black granules are composed of coarse septate hyphae, culture on Sabouraud's Dextrose Agar revealed typical colonies of Madurella mycetomi. Histopathological examination of tissue sections established the diagnosis. Surgery is the treatment of choice in addition to a systemic antifungal agent as long term therapy
