Notes on the flora of Yemen. 1: morphological and anatomical studies on Cuscuta planiflora Tenore, [Cuscutaceae] collected from Jabal An-Nahi Shn'ayb, Sanaa, Yemen with the reference of its phytogeographical distribution

ABSTRACT

Cuscuta planiflora is a parasitic plant on numerous plants from different families such as Lamiaceae [Thymus laevigaus], Acanthaceae [Hypoectes forsskalii] and Dipsaceae [Pteracephalus frutescens]. Morphological, anatomical and phytogeographical studies were carried on the Cuscuta planiflora which was collected from Jabal An-Nabi' Shu'ahyb located 30 km west of Sanaa the capital of Yemen, with coordinates [043° 58[-]-043° 59 E and 15° 14[-]-15° 15[-] N]. the morphological study includes stem morphology and floral structure. Anatomically, the cross, lateral section of the stem and lateral section of the haustoria's area, were studied, Phytogeographical studies were done by studying its distribution in Yemen and in plant geographical regions
