ABSTRACT
An accurate, simple, rapid, and sensitive spectrofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of two fluoroquinolone anti-bacterial Ciprofloxacin [Cip] and Norfloxacin [Nor]. This spectrofluorimetric method is based on the direct measuring of [Cip] and [Nor] in aqueous solutions through using a Britton buffer at pH 7.0 and pH 3.0 For Cip, Nor respectively. The wavelength of both excitation and emission is Ex=330 nm, Em=422 nm for Cip and Ex=358 nm, Em=447 nm For Nor. Calibration graphs for Cip and Nor are linear at the range 0.0331-0.464 micro g mL[-1], 0.1227-1.5326 micro g mL[-1], The detection limit is 0.0331 and 0.1227 micro g mL[-1] with a relative standard deviation not exceed 5.28% and 5.04%. For Cip and Nor respectively. The proposed method has been successfully applied to be determine either in pure form or in the drugs in their tablets, vial and eye drops formulations, and the method enables for the determination of Cip - Nor in pharmaceuticals without interference from associated substance. The suggested method has the advantage of being applicable for the determination of two drugs without prior extraction nor forming a complex. The method developed by us specifically increased sensitivity about 12 times for the determination of Cip, about 2.5 times for the determination of Nor. The new developed method is simple and rapid with high accuracy and sensitivity, and it is useful for determination Cip and Nor in dosage forms
