Familial dysalbuminaemic hyperthyroxinemia: demonstration in three generations

ABSTRACT

We report 3 patients representing 3 generations of a family in whom marked hyperthyroxinaemia was unaccompanied by signs or symptoms of hyperthyroidism. All 3 demonstrated a marked increase in albumin binding of labelled thyroxine in vitro, consistent with the syndrome of Familial Dysalbuminaemic Hyperthyroxinaemia
