ABSTRACT
The infrared spectroscopic techniques were used for the elucidation of the alteration in rat tissues, caused by gardona [tetrachloroviphose] insecticide and soybean feeding. The analysis of the infrared spectra of the tissue samples provided strong evidence that soybean causes considerahle increase in cysteic acid and sulfoxide contents of the liver. Soybean also caused a decrease in lipid content of the kidney, spleen and intestine, this was opposed by an increase in their proteins. The effect of soybean and insecticide was similar to the effect of soybean alone. On the other hand, the effect of the insecticide alone on the above mentioned tissues was undetectable. The lung tissue was neither affected by soybean nor by the insecticide
