Gingiva is often the site for localized growth that are considered to be reactive rather than neoplastic in nature. Because the clinical appearance of these lesions can be remarkably similar, classification is based on the distinct histologic differences. POFs are frequently associated with irritants like calculus, plaque, dental appliances, ill fitting crowns and rough restorations. There is a definite female predilection, with a peak incidence in young and teenaged females. A clinical report of a 14 year old girl with a POF in the mandibular gingiva is presented
