Thyroidectomy of massive goiter always a surgical challenge

ABSTRACT

Multinodular goiter is a relatively common thyroid disorder with a marked female preponderance. Most of these goiters weigh less than 100 grams with a few especially in endemic areas as marked by WHO, weighing approximately 200-250 grams and very rarely weighing more than 450 grams pose a challenge for an operating surgeon.
