ABSTRACT
The results of the use of mannitol as a line of treatment for delayed anterior chember formation after intra-ocular operations are discussed. Thirty five cases of delayed chamber formation had been met with at the Ophthalmic section of Am Shams University Hospitals, during the last two years. Their aetiology as regards wound leakage, choroidal detachment and pupillary block is described. Thirty two cases [due to the last two Causes], were treated by the use of mannitol 25% by the slow intra venous drip. The pharmacological properties of mannitol, and its possible mode of action on the eye as regards aqueous f ormation and vitreous shrinkage is discussed
