New Human case of avian influenza A [H5N1] in Egypt

ABSTRACT

The Ministry of Health and Population in Egypt reported two new cases of human infection with avian influenza A [H5N1] virus during the months of December-January 2012. In addition, the Ministry also retrospectively reported one new cases with the date of onset of symptoms on 30 October 2011. Of these newly reported cases, one was fatal. Thus, the total number of confirmed cases of human infection with avian influenza A [H5N1] reported from Egypt rose to 159 including 55 deaths.
