Unilateral eminectomy for treatment of recurrent temporomandibular joint dislocation

ABSTRACT
Recurrent dislocation of the mandible was discussed. A brief review of theliterature emphasizing different approach for treatment was carried out. Thisstudy aimed to evaluate the process of eminectomy as one of the surgicalmodalities in patients with chronic dislocation. Five cases of chronicdislocation treated by reduction of the articular eminence were reviewed. The entire eminence was removed and the surface was left smooth. The resultof this operation in a series of five patients over two years period wasevaluated
