ABSTRACT
This study was carried out on healthy non-pregnant Zarabi does kept with a vasectomized billy. The goats were left loose in an open pen at the national research centre farm [Abou Rawash] during winter and spring seasons. Prostaglandin F[2] was used for synchronization of the oestrous cycle in all doses. Detection of oestrus was carried out by monitoring doses once daily and was confirmed by hormonal values. Blood samples were collected by jagular vein puncture throughout the different stages of the cycle plasma was separated and kept at 20?C till analysed for estradiol 17 beta and progesterone hormones. The values of estradiol 17 beta in Zaraibi goat showed highly significant changes between the different stages of the different stages of the ostrous cycle, being 12.4 +/- 2.84. 22.33+8.49 +/- 4.19 and 8.14 +/- 5.13pg/ml during proestrus, oestrus, metestrus and diestruds respectively. Moreover, estradiol-17 beta value was high in January [17.01 +/- 3.89 pg/ml] and low in may [15.3 +/- 5.5 pg/ml]. the progesterone values in Zaraibi goat averaged 0.55 +/- 0.21, 0.53 +/- 0.40, 1.20 +/- 0.57 and 3.20 +/- 1.27 ng/ml during proestrus, estrus. Metesturs and diestrus respectively [p 0.01]
