ABSTRACT
One case of penicillinase-producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae [PPNG] was isolated at Zarka Military Hospital in June 1986, followed by four other cases in a period of six months. These are the first cases of PPNG isolated in Jordan. Uncomplicated cases in the same period totalled 32, Also, there were three cases relatively resistent to procaine penicillin. This gives a 12.5% ratio for PPNG, which is very high. Therefore the epidemilogy of PPNG and uncomplicated gonorrhoeae should be carefully looked at when long term control of this disease is considered
