ABSTRACT
This is a prospective study, involving 150 Moroccans patients with chronic kidney disease [CKD], who were hospitalized in nephrology service of Mohammed VI University Hospital of Oujda. We evaluated the status of vitamin D in these patients, and the relationship between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25 [OH] D] and the various clinical and biological parameters. Patients with CKD have low levels of 25 [OH] D 23, 01 +/- 4, 7 ng/ml. The serum level of 25 [OH] D is lower in females. There was a significant negative correlation between serum 25 [OH] D and serum parathyroid hormone levels. The results of this study show that deficiency and vitamin D insufficiency are very common in Moroccan population with CKD, particularly among women over 50 years old
