Retrospective study on iron status using serum iron and iron binding capacity

ABSTRACT

Laboratory medical reports on 97 patients were analysed. Data obtained included full blood count, haemoglobin electrophoresis, serum iron, total iron binding capacity and percentage transferring saturation. 50 out of 97 patients [51.5%] were found to be hypoferremic. No statistically significant difference with regards to mean haemoglobin level was foun in both hypoferremic and normoferremic groups
