Effect of pain relief on the course of labour and fetal outcome

ABSTRACT
This study was carried on 120 parturient women using different regimens of analgesics and/or psycholeptics to allay their anxiety and to relief labour pains without a harmful effect on both mother and foetus. Determination of the effect of different analgesic on pain score, duration of labour, fetal apgar score and FHR tracing showed improvement of pain score, shortening of the duration of labour with good fetal outcome. In conclusion selection of a proper analgesic should be tailored to the specific needs of the parturient women and offering to her a tolerable safe labour without a harmful effect on her child
