ABSTRACT
Ten diabetic patients, old denture wearers, have been selected from the ten diabetes institute, Cairo. The patients were divided into two groups [5 patients each]. The first group used denture adhesive continuously without any instructions, while the second group, the patients did not use denture adhesive at all. Biopsy was taken from each patient of the two groups, from the mucosa covering the lower ridge at the premolar region. The results obtained from this study showed that there were pathological changes in the mucosa supporting the denture in both epithelium and lamina propria, together with decrease in mucopolysaccharides and proteins, in the first group of patients who misused the denture adhesive, while in the second group of patients who did not use adhesive at all there were no marked pathological changes
