ABSTRACT
A prospective study of 38 feet with hallux valugs deformity in 29 patients were reviewed. All patients were treated by a horizontally directed "V" shaped displacement osteotomy in the head of the first metatarsal together with a release and proximal advancement of the metatarso-phalangeal joint capsule form its medial side. The osteotomy was very stable and the valgus tilt of the first metatarsal head together with the primary varus. Operative results were encouraging since satisfactory results were seen in 84.2% and complications were uncommon. When the present series was compared with other series of similar procedure, the results were nearly similar
