Subdural empyema: a case for individualized treatment-preliminary report of an ongoing prospective study

ABSTRACT
A study of patients presenting with subdural empyema is being carried out at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Science. So far, fifteen patients have been studied and results evaluated. Each case has been studied on individual merit decision taken as regards to the best treatment to the best treatment. It is concluded that because of thick widespread pus, craniotomy is the procedure of choice and that burr hole only is insufficient in cases with widespread pus around the brain
