ABSTRACT
The increase in road traffic accidents has brought with it a parallel increase in serious injuries, including those to the chest. Trauma to the chest produces profound alterations to the cardio-respiratory system demanding immediate emergency care. Recent advances in respiratory therapy and a better understanding of the underlying pathophysiology have improved the treatment and prognosis of severe chest injuries. In this study, 144 cases of severe chest injury are reviewed and discussed according to age, sex, mode, and type of injury
