Pynido [223-of] pyrimiduies: deaza-analges of pteriduies as possible anti neoplastic agents

ABSTRACT

A novel series of 4-amino-2-thioxo [or substituted thio]pyrido [2, 3-d] pyrimidines IX-XXIV, and 2,4-dithioxo [or dialkylthio] pyrido [2, 3-d] pyrimidines XXV-XXX was synthesized as possible antineoplastic agents. The versatile synthetic approach involved cycloaddition of 2-[3-benzoylthioureido] function on the 3-cyano moiety in the pyridine derivatives VI-VIII. Some of the newly synthesized compounds were subjected to preliminary biological evaluation involving in vitro disease-oriented antitumor screen as well as anti-AIDS drug discovery program against HIV. None of the selected compounds showed any significant activity
