ABSTRACT
Years ago, the treatment of choice directed towards pulmonary tuberculosis by "collapsing" the lung evolved from the idea of putting the affected part at rest. Nowadays, the most successful type of surgery in this field is by freeing the lung from its disease by "resection" and from its trapping by "decortication". Throughout the years [1958-1994]. I have been involved in the surgical treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. This paper highlights the steps in the evolution of surgical treatment of pulminary tuberculosis in Iraq in the years [1944-1994]
