The epithelium of the inferior turbinate LS shows squamous metaplasia while the lamina propria shows chronic inflammatory cells, dilated capillaries, atrophic glands and variable degrees of fibres-is. The procedure of middle turbinectomy is described. The operation aims at removing the obstructing middle turbinates to prevent stasis of secretion and its sequelae.
