ABSTRACT
This study was done on the records of 83 schizophrenic patients collected from three hospital in Cairo and Giza. The objective was to draw the profile of Egyptian schizophrenic patients on WAIS performance. The profile showed that in Egypt schizophrenics shows decrement on all scales of WAIS. The performance scale is relatively more impaired. The results are nearly score below that reported in Western countries which may be attributed to cultural effect on the WAIS. Schizophrenic patients performance on WAIS appears not to be affected by age of the patients, nor age of onset of illness. Duration of illness per se dose not appear to influence the performance, but it is possibly affected by the deterioration or improvement of the clinical picture. Hebephrenic patients are the mostly affected subgroup of schizophrenics than other subgroups. The other subgroups do not differ from each other or their performance on WAIS
