Stem as a direct source of rauwolfia radix

ABSTRACT

Rauwolfia radix was produced both via callus and directly, using stem as an explant. MS medium containing 1 mg/1 NAA and 0.5 mg/1 Kn with 1% CH was required for proliferation of callus and initiation of root projections [visible root primordial]. Continuous [24 h] illumination was required for development of root projections into true roots. Roots formed via callus or direct on stem explant were distinguishable from each other.
