ABSTRACT
Between 1990 and 1994, 79 patients with 127 inguinal hernias were operated on by. a prosthetic repair. The average age is 56 years. 29 patients had a recurrent unilateral hernia, 45 had bilateral hernias, and 5 had a femoral hernia. The processes used are a prosthetic repair by inguinal or median approach and median prothesis of STOPPA. There was no mortality and no recurrence. An ablation of mesh was necessary for stopping infection in one case without recurrence. 4 patients were operated on [post-operatory for benign prostatic hyperplasia]. The authors report in this work the result of their experience and a decisional strategy in accordance with clinical context
