ABSTRACT
In this work, we report 8 observations of pediatric AIDS, collected between 1987 and 1995 in the department of pediatric 1 in Infants Hospital Ibn Rochd in Casablanca. In Morocco, we count until April 12, 1995, 267 cases of HIV infection which 63 cases [23,6%] are women and 14 cas [5%] are children. In this study the mode of contamination is vertical, mother to child. The means old of childs [6M, 2F] is 22 months. The clinic profile is dominated by the diarrheic syndrome [7 cases] with staturoponderal regression [5 cases] and by a progressive encephalopathy with a psychomotor delay [3 cases]. Reccurent bacterial infections are frequent [4 cases] and opportunist infections are dominated by a digestive condidiasis [5 cases]. Through an immunologic study, we noticed a T4/T8 ratio inferior or equal to 1,2 in all the patients. The prognostic of the pediatric AIDS is more severe in the child, four children are dead. The prevention of the pediatric AIDS is based on contra-indication of pregnancy in infected women, early protection of the newborn and preventive treatement by Zidovudin during pregnancy
