Barium Meal examination, upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, three endoscopy biopsies from gastric antrum for rapid urease test and Histopathological examination for detection of Helicobacter pylori. In 102 [65.38%] of these patients, the histology specimens showed Helicobacter pylori in 88% of patients with duodenal ulcer, 85% of patients with gastric ulcer, 80% of patients with gastric erosion and duodenitis, and 63% patients with gastritis. The urease test was positive at six hours in 82 [52.56%] of these 156 patients. The Urease test was positive in 70% of each group of patients with endoscopic findings of gastric erosions, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer and duodenal erosions. The Helicobacter pylori does play a role in peptic ulcer disease in people of interior of Sindh and identification of Helicobacter pylori by histological technique is better than using urease test
