ABSTRACT
Sexual potency involves the psychic desire for sexual inter course together with normal erection, ejaculation and orgasm. Of these four factors, ejaculation and erection are most often affected after surgery for renal carcinoma. The age of the patient and the extent of the disease seemed to be the two main factors concerned with sexual dysfunctions after such surgery. Incidence and management of sexual dysfunctions after abdomino-perineal resection were reported in 16 patients who were less than 50 years of age. Total number of patients with sexual dysfunctions was II [69%]. Seven cases [44%] were important. Four of them were successfully treated by Finney's hinged paired silicone penile prosthesis. Four cases [25%] reported no ejaculation with normal potency and sensation of orgasm. Of these 4 cases with no ejaculation, 2 proved to have retrograde ejaculation [12.5%] which responded to alpha-adrenergic drugs. This risk of sexual dysfunction an therapeutic modalities should be discussed with each patient preoperatively
