Intrauterine volvulus without malrotation
KMJ-Kuwait Medical Journal. 1998; 30 (1): 60-61
in English | IMEMR | ID: emr-48439
ABSTRACT
This report describes a case of intrauterine volvulus of the small bowel without associated malrotation, presenting in a neonate with unusual clinical features and intraoperative findings. This condition was diagnosed in a baby boy in Kuwait in 1995, and successfully treated. Volvulus without malrotation is extremely rare and there are only few reports of surviving infants with this problem. The diversity of clinical presentation and lack of specific clinical or radiological features make recognition of this problem difficult and lead to increased morbidity and mortality
