Ethambutol-induced optic neuritis and permanent visual loss in patient with chronic renal failure

ABSTRACT
This study developed a case of 31-year old female with chronic renal failure secondary to tuberculous pyelonephritis and obstructive uropathy who developed severe visual loss due to optic neuritis after three-month treatment with quadruple anti-tuberculous therapy including ethambutol. The patient partially recovered vision six months after stopping the incriminated drug, though developed bilateral optic atrophy with a significant visual loss
