Myringoplasty; use of autologous temporalis fascia versus autologous tragal perichondrium

ABSTRACT
To compare the results of "take" of grafts of tragal perichondrium and temporalis fascia using underlay and overlay techniques.

SETTING:

Mayo Hospital ENT Department Lahore.

DESIGN:

Retrospective study. PERIOD Oct 1992 to Mar 1996. PATIENTS AND

METHODS:

Total 112 patients, 60 Male and 52 Female. Graft "take" rate was 80% with temporalis fascia and 88% with tragal perichondrium. Whichever method of myringoplasty is used, results using tragal perichondrium are much superior than temporalis fascia
