ABSTRACT
to determine the correlation of symptoms of vaginitus with candidiasis and to see the prevalence of candida albicans in pregnant women at term and at preterm delivery. Study

design:

Total of 262 pregnant women were enrolled with completion of questionnaire and genital specimens taken for culture.

Result:

Out of 262 enrolled pregnant women, 74 cases 28.2% were positive for candida albicans with 24% at preterm and 30.8% at term delivery. In this study we are unable to find any correlation among symptoms of vaginitis and candidiasis. These results suggest that candida colonization is not associated with preterm delivery
