Thirty children suffering from Kwashiorkor, 32 children suffering from Rickets and 30 normal healthy children were admitted in Mounira Children Hospital of Cairo University for the determination of total protein as well as electrophoretic fraction of serum and cerebrospinal fluid [CSF] proteins. The results obtained proved the incidence of variable fluctuation in serum and C.S.F. proteins. In case of Kwashiorkor, a decrease in serum albumin was accompanied by an increase in CSF- albumin. The serum gamma -globulin increased, where as the CSF-beta and gamma -globulin decreased. The changes indicated in both serum and CSF-protein fractions [albumin and gamma -globulin] of Rackitic children were identical. The pattern of fluctuation were similar to those indicated in C.S.F. of Kwashiorkor
