Frequency of hepatitis A, B, and other types of acute hepatitis in hospitalised children in Egypt

ABSTRACT

The etiology of acute hepatitis in 94 children admitted to Enmbaba Fever Hospital in Giza governorate south of Cairo was hepatitis B [42.6%], hepatitis A [4.3%], dual infection [3.2%] and unidentified [50%]. The clinical presentations were variable from mild to severe disease, no significant differences between various epidemiological, clinical and biochemical features in different types of hepatitis.
