ABSTRACT
The present work was conducted to evaluate the role of cytokines [IL-6 and TNF-alpha] in females with unexplained infertility [UEI]. The subjects were classified into two groups A control group included 15 apparently healthy fertile females with offsprings and UEI group included 15 females. Blood and cervical mucus [CM] samples were taken at the same time at mid cycle. Sera and diluted CM samples were kept frozen at -20C till used in the assay for IL-6 and TNF-alpha using ELISA kit. The results revealed a highly significant increase in both serum and CM IL-6 as well as TNF-alpha in UEI group when compared with the control group. A positive significant correlation was found between serum and CM 11-6 levels in UEI group. No significant correlation was detected between serum and CM TNF-alpha levels in UEI group
