Comparative study of Vitalograph functions in non-smokers and asymptomatic chronic smokers

ABSTRACT

Smoking is an accepted curse responsible for causing significant health hazards. The incidence of lung disease in smokers is significantly higher than non-smokers. This study was based on vitalographic evaluation of lung function in smokers and compared with nonsmokers. Out of 100 male adults, PEFR was found to be significantly lower in smokers [450 +/- 98] than in non-smokers [516 +/- 92]. The P value was <0.05.
