ABSTRACT
Antibacterial activity of nine different brands of quinolones was tested against 217 clinical isolates of Salmonella typhi resistant to chloramphenicol, ampicillin and cotrimoxazole. Disc diffusion method was utilized for testing the susceptibility while Minimum inhibitory concentrations [MIC] were determined by the agar dilution technique. Generally speaking, in-vitro activity of these brands against Multi-resistant Salmonella typhi was found to be within satisfactory MIC ranges. Some brands were found to have very low MIC values and a narrow range. Some of the brands were found to be more cost-effective than the others
