RESUMO
Analisou-se a etiologia e o quadro clínico de 33 lactentes com disenteria atendidos no setor de emergências do Hospital Geral de Pediatria do IMIP (HGP/IMIP). A etiologia foi predominantemente bacteriana, cepas de Shigella e Salmonella foram isoladas com maior frequência. Dor abdominal foi o sintoma proeminente, o quadro clínico foi auto-limitado na maioria dos lactentes
