Relata programa de aleitamento materno lançado no Brasil, em 1981, e compara índices de mortalidade infantil antes (1981) e depois (1987) do programa. Conclui que o índice baixou, em virtude de mudanças na prática do aleitamento materno e reduçäo de doenças como diarréia, infecçöes respiratórias e outras infecçöes
