RESUMO
We present the successful outcome of a patient with postpneumonectomy pulmonary edema treated conservatively with mechanical ventilation with PEEP, diuretics and fluid restriction. Clinical characteristics and outcome support data from the literature considering increased permeability and diminished lymphatic reabsortion as the main pathophysiological elements of this complication.
