ABSTRACT
The usual process of anchorage preparation in Orthodontics is accomplished at the expense of distal inclination of the posterior teeth to support movements of the anterior segments or to establish a better antero-posterior relationship between the dentures. The Tucson technique (Tweed Foundation) initially tips the second molars distally (upper 20 degrees and lowers 15 degrees) for retracting incisors after moving the cuspids back with extra-oral anchorage. This process shows two distinct phases 1st - anchorage preparation (distal inclination of second molars and cuspid retraction); 2nd - anterior retraction using the prepared anchorage. It is advantageous if both these phases are superimposed...
