ABSTRACT
The concentrations of leptins during the normal menstrual cycle of a group (n=19) of fertile women and the daily concentrations of estradiol, HL and HFS were determined. The immunological activity of prolactin was determined by radioimmunoassay (RIA), whereas the biological activity (BIO) was determined by a proliferation bioassay of Nb2 cells from rat lymphoma. The RIA/BIO relations for prolactin were established. It was found an increase of the concentrations of prolactin (RIA) coinciding with the HL ovulatory peak. It was concluded that the concentrations of bioactive prolactin (BIO) were significantly higher (p<0.05) during the periovulatory and luteal phases. The RIA/BIO correlation for prolactine oscillated between 0.8 and 2.8. The concentrations of leptine showed a great variability between cycles, but they increased during the early luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, although they were not statistically significant(AU)
