RESUMO
Pharmacokinetic concepts have been successfully used to individualize patient drug therapy. Many factors must be taken into consideration when deciding on the best drug dosis for a patient, as the age, gender, obesity and disease state. The enantioselective pharmacokinetics is another important factor to be considered. In most cases, one of the isomers is more pharmacologically active than the other, and each one may exhibit different pharmacolokinetic properties. Genetics also plays a role in the interindividual variability since the activity of many CYP isozymes is genetically determined.
