ABSTRACT

The present work has he objective of analyzing the relationship between Barthel's Index and the other variables, such as: age, sex, Diabetes Mellitus reamputation and the cause of amputation on elderly people who have been submitted to amputation above the malleolus and attended at a hospital out patient clinical (Orthoses and Prostheses Unity, University Hospital, State University of Campinas).We found statistical significance between the Barthel's Index and age, and sex, suggesting that the elderly above 80 years old have less Barthel's Index, and the women tend to have lesser Barthel's Index than men
