RESUMEN
El tratamiento quirúrgico de la pancreatitis crónica es actualmente controvertido. Se expone esta experiencia con 9 pacientes, de estos a 4 se les practicó como procedimiento definitivo una pancreatoduodenectomía y a 5 una pancreatoyeyunostomía látero-lateral, en el período 1990 a 2000, en los hospitales militares "Joaquín C. Duany" de Santiago de Cuba y "Carlos J. Finlay" de Ciudad de la Habana. Se comentan aspectos relacionados con las indicaciones, la morbilidad y mortalidad y los resultados a mediano plazo. Estos fueron buenos en el 88,9 porciento de los casos(AU)
ABSTRACT
The surgical treatment of chronic pancreatitis is controversial at present. The experience obtained with 9 patients is presented. 4 of them underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy as a definitive procedure, whereas the other 5 underwent a side-to-side pancreatojejunostomy at Joaquin C. Duany Hospital, in Santiago de Cuba, and at Dr. Carlos J. Finlay Hospital, in Havanan City, from 1990 to 2000. Some aspects connected with the indications, morbidity and mortality and the medium-term results are commented. The results were good in 88.9 percent of the cases(AU)
