RESUMO
Apresentando uma natureza de crescimento própria, atingindo grandes dimensöes sem se manifestar clinicamente e sendo potencialmente recidivante, o ceratocisto odontogênico é uma forma distinta de cisto odontogênico, obrigando a classe odontológica a ter consideraçöes diferentes dos demais cistos que acomentem a cavidade oral. Os autores descrevem um caso clínico que faz diagnóstico diferencial com o cisto periodontal lateral e discutem sua histologia, prognóstico e opçöes de tratamento
